This is an exciting apprenticeship opportunity to join South East Regional Organised Crime Unit as a Digital Technical Developer.

You will be working as part of the Digital Technical Exploitation Capability (DTEC) team, designing and providing specialised software & hardware development, technical services and expertise in respect of research and development of new / emerging techniques and tactics to support the ROCU capabilities and forces within the South East Region.

To attain the knowledge and skills to become a Digital and Technical Developer, you will undertake the Digital & Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship. You will receive structured off the job development, supported by workplace learning and mentoring.

As you develop your skills, your role will be to:

Carry out   research, development, planning and preparation of software, techniques and   equipment to counter the Threat, Risk and Harm posed by serious and organised   criminals and individuals use of digital techniques to commit serious crime. The   role will see the individual create new digital solutions from scratch to   solve operational intelligence gaps within SEROCU.

The successful applicant will be aged 18 or over and have an ability to successfully develop computer software and to understand development methodologies. The individual must be able to demonstrate identification of software requirements, ability to design software, ability to write and develop scripts and code. The candidate must have an understanding of testing frameworks.

English and Maths at GCSE grades A-C are required and a minimum of 104-112 UCAS points (e.g. A’ level Grades BCC, BTEC Grades DMM)

Applicants who do not have the required UCAS points but have other qualifications or experience will be considered on an individual basis.

The individual must be able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies with ability to use computer technology, software packages, c, video, audio, photographic and electronics.

Ability to understand relevant legislation e.g. Data Protection, MOPI, CPIA, RIPA, IP Bill etc is important.

An interest in Computer networks and system administration, Web Development

Windows and Linux Operating Systems, Database Architecture and Coding and Script languages would be advantageous.

The apprenticeship is aimed at those who are not experienced in the provision of specialised software/hardware support and/or have not achieved degree level qualifications in this field.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.
