This post is an exciting new opportunity to contribute to making our staff and communities safer by working as part of the Driver Risk Unit within Thames Valley Police.

Thames Valley Police is the largest non-metropolitan Force in England and Wales, covering the counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Buckinghamshire and serving a population of in excess of 2 million with an extensive network of roads and motorways.

Successful applicants will play a key part in managing police driver’s attitudes, behaviours and risk management skills, by evaluating data derived from a number of sources including vehicle Telematics and the DriverMetrics® Police Driver Risk Index process. This role will be responsible for managing and creating action plans for drivers deemed high risk across the Force and supporting supervisors to ensure standards of driving are achieved and maintained. This role will also have responsibility for assessing and evaluating telematics data and decision making regarding the required levels of intervention.

The successful candidate will have recent knowledge of operational policing and investigation, and risk management, and a willingness to develop an in-depth understanding of the risks associated with occupational police driving. You should have a strong desire and proven experience of developing other people to achieve behavioural change and/or coaching that meets defined objectives and ensures valid and reliable assessment.

You must be self-motivated with an ability to develop yourself and embody the TVP Code of Ethics, taking account of organisational needs and risk assessments; providing timely and appropriate advice and feedback (written and verbal); evaluating and presenting accurate information and ideas to people effectively and persuasively in accordance with current policy and procedures. Excellent communication and IT skills are essential.

A full UK driving licence is essential, You will be required to travel   to different locations across the Force.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary.
