Technology Services is a function within the Joint ICT Department of Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police. We are responsible for keeping the blue lights on and delivering innovative solutions to ensure Police Officers and staff can access key services that allow us to stay online, connected and ahead of the game. We are looking for experienced 3rd line infrastructure engineers to help lead the technical delivery and support of our next generation infrastructure environment. 

As a Senior Engineer within the Platforms team, you will be responsible for leading the implementation and support of a variety of Identity, Messaging, Virtual Desktop and infrastructure application solutions, optimising these services whilst driving innovation and the adoption of on premise and cloud based platform solutions throughout Joint ICT as we embark on our journey to the cloud. 

Your role is to support and evolve our business as usual initiatives, ensuring regular maintenance activities are scheduled and completed on time to support the delivery of agreed service levels within the ITIL Framework. You will possess excellent problem solving skills, act as a mentor to Systems Engineers and assist as a point of escalation. This position requires an organized, self-motivated individual with good communication skills and the ability to perform under pressure, both alone and as part of a team. 

Proven experience in as many of the following areas as possible is essential: 

  • A track record as an IT Infrastructure Engineer working at 3rd line and project level within complex infrastructure environments (on-premise & hybrid cloud + multi forest/domain)
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory Domain Services and related technologies such as Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, PKI/Certificate Services etc.
  • Identity Management Solutions aligned to Microsoft 365 including Azure AD, Azure AD Premium, Azure AD Connect and AD FS
  • Microsoft Azure platform (identity, security, virtual machines, policies, licensing etc.)
  • Support and administration of the Microsoft collaboration stack for Microsoft 365 such as Exchange Online, Teams, Power Apps, OneDrive for Business, W10, InTune/MEM etc.
  • Microsoft Exchange (all revisions) and Symantec Enterprise Vault administration, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Citrix Products with a focus on Citrix Virtual Apps/Desktops (XenDesktop/XenApp), Application Layering and Provisioning Services and its components, installation and configuration with the ability to effectively troubleshoot at each component level
  • Experience with remediation activities identified as part of annual IT Health check vulnerability assessments.
  • Proficient with PowerShell and Windows Scripting technologies to enable automation capabilities.
  • Cloud based infrastructure management such as PowerShell, Azure Security Center, Log Analytics, Advanced Threat Protection, Azure Sentinel, ServiceNow etc.

This role could be carried out remotely, with the occasional requirement for travel to Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police offices.
