An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join the finance team working for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley

Thames Valley Police is the largest non-metropolitan Force in England and Wales, covering the counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Buckinghamshire and serving a population of in excess of 2 million.  The Force is continuing to evolve and invest as we shape ourselves for the future.

The purpose of this role is to provide day-to-day management and supervision of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) finance function and associated staff, with lead responsibility for the coordination of the production of the annual Statement of Accounts for the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Chief Constable and Group, Preparation of budget monitoring analysis and financial management reports, responsibility for capital accounting and leases, overseeing treasury management activities and the production and submission of statutory financial returns.

The post-holder will deputise for the PCC’s Chief Finance Officer in their absence, including the fulfilment of the various statutory roles, responsibilities and obligations, and will be required to provide advice and support to both the PCC’s Chief Finance Officer as well as the Force’s Director of Finance as necessary and appropriate.

You will have a professional accountancy qualification with significant practical and technical post qualification experience.  A high level of computer literacy is required especially in Microsoft Office applications together with a high level of accuracy and integrity when producing/manipulating data with the ability to assimilate and problem solve large and complex sets of data.  You will have the ability to communicate at all levels and be able to clearly deliver financial information with confidence and innovation.  A good team worker is required and dependant on role applied for, will require the ability to delegate and motivate staff through coaching and mentoring.
