Secondment/Fixed Term Contract

We are looking for a Prevent Officer to work within the Prevent Gateway Team, part of Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTP SE). The vacancy will be based near M4, Junction 12 with flexibility to attend other South East regions as required. This is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract or Secondment opportunity.

You will support the Prevent strand of CONTEST by connecting counterterrorism policing, neighbourhood policing and communities. The role will be working with internal and external partners to develop and deliver local Prevent action plans as well as;

  • Working to signpost individuals vulnerable to radicalisation;
  • Coordinating the delivery of Prevent across the wider policing family;
  • Supporting front line staff and acting as community contact for any counter terrorism consequence management issues;
  • Managing the workload through Prevent Case Management enquiries;
  • Conducting vulnerability assessments;
  • Working with partners on community impact assessments;
  • Contributing to neighbourhood mapping within the counter terrorism context; and
  • Supporting activity across all four pillars of Contest providing tactical advice to counter terrorisms SIOs on Prevent options and capability.
  • Work as part of a Gateway Process to manage referrals in the South East Region.
  • Gateway Prevent Officer (in addition to the above Accountabilities):

Manage and record new referrals – taking Information from all referral sources and interacting with internal partners to de-conflict and record on Prevent Case Management Systems. Act as a point of contact for internal and external enquiries regarding Prevent Case Management. Support Fixed and Flexible Prevent teams with data and information relating to referrals and interact with other CTPSE departments and other outside Partner Agencies.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.
