An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to manage the South East Technical Surveillance Unit, part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.

SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

The purpose of the role is to manage the South East Technical Surveillance Unit (SETSU) collective operational bases from the various locations forming part of the SETSU structure and deliver an effective and comprehensive technical surveillance service by implementing, managing and auditing the full range of technical surveillance services across the region, force and department

Main duties include day to day management of the TSU Bases, SSU and administrative mangers. Ensure the SETSU develops and delivers efficient and effective surveillance services at all levels to Forces SE ROCU and Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU). Building relationships provide expert advice and guidance to investigating officers, senior staff at all levels and deputise for the Head of SETSU and Digital Capabilities

 The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills with proven operational management skills with extensive up to date technical knowledge and experience, together with an ability to work in a secure and confidential environment with the highest standards of integrity; able to recognise sensitive information and maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.

They will also be HNC qualified in Electronics, Radio or Telecommunications (or equivalent) in-depth and up to date knowledge of IT systems and digital techniques, including wide area networking, mobile data backhaul and data security.

You will be required to be part of an on call rota and required to travel for business purposes and demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours.
