Applications are invited from substantive Constables and Detective Constables to join the Covert Operations Unit, part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).

You will assist in making Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley (henceforth known as ‘the region’) safer in furtherance of the stated aims and objectives of those forces and the region. You will maintain and develop an effective covert policing capability in the South East Covert Operations Unit (SECOU) as part of the National Undercover Working Group structure.

You will provide expertise on covert policing techniques in relation to relevant crime and criminals operating within the region or whose activities adversely affect the communities of the region.

The post holder will have successfully attended a nationally recognised training course for Foundation and/or Advanced undercover officers as a student or attended as an observer or be willing to attend. You will have experience deployed as a Foundation and/or preferably an Advanced undercover officer or recent experience of being engaged in the investigation of serious crime in general and the use of undercover policing investigative techniques in particular.

The post holder will be required to pass the Cover Officers Course.

You may be required to travel for business purposes on occasion and demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours including unsocial hours. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level and undergo psychological screening.
