An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the Cash Team, as part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.

SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

You will work collaboratively with the NCA, Border Force and HMRC to ensure that criminals do not benefit from their criminal activities, providing advice and guidance in the procedures of seizing cash.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, conducting and co-ordinating financial investigations in relation to criminal confiscation, cash seizures, money laundering and financial intelligence in support of SEROCU investigations. To prevent the removal of criminal cash leaving and entering the U.K.

  • Conducting searches, securing evidence and interviewing suspects involved in financial criminality. Providing and presenting relevant financial evidence to a high standard in order to prosecute offenders and where necessary provide evidence at court.

The successful applicant will have some experience working as an Accredited Financial Investigator and within a financial environment. Ideally, you have an investigative background. You will have proven experience in collating and assessing information and presenting it in a concise and accurate manner.

You will also have excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise workloads and produce accurate work within tight deadlines.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.
