The post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) before taking up the post.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intelligence Development Officer to work within a new unit: the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) Disruption Team part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners. SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

Your role will be to identify, collate, research, assess and review information and intelligence on identified individuals and organisations and assist in the preparation and presentation of a variety of intelligence packages.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Disruption Team with specialist research using open source techniques such as covert internet investigation.
  • Supporting live operational activity with real time research and evaluation of information.
  • Recommending further action against those individuals deemed to be linked to organised crime. Identify opportunities for additional disruption interventions.

The successful applicant will have a good standard of education or equivalent experience and excellent communication skills, written and oral, with ability to negotiate and deliver presentations.

You will have recent and relevant experience within an intelligence environment and proven experience in collating and assessing information and making concise and accurate recommendations based on assessments.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.
