Fixed Term Contract/Secondment until 30th March 2021

 

In this interesting role you will assist police officers in the investigation of criminal offences and other incidents, and prepare case papers, ensuring file completeness and delivery in accordance with court deadlines, legislation and force policy. Duties will include taking statements of evidence from victims of crime and witnesses along with interviewing suspects in custody. You will also manage case investigations and complete accurate prosecution files and attend court to give evidence as required.

 

A good standard of education with excellent verbal, written English and good numeracy skills is essential. 

 

You will have good communication, listening and questioning skills with the ability to engage with people at all levels, sometimes in potentially confrontational situations.  You will also need to have meticulous attention to detail and the ability to gather and record information in a logical format along with problem solving and decision making skills.  Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly.  Due to unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be suitable.  For this reason a full driving licence is considered essential for this role.

 

Along with all other posts in Force Crime, Intelligence and Specialist Operations Departments, this role will require an enhanced level of vetting.  Psychological screening will also be required for this role.


Please note that due to the length of these posts, the PIP 1 accreditation is considered essential as training cannot be provided. Knowledge of current TVP systems would also be highly desirable.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
