For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or acquire appropriate security clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals.

Applicants are invited from substantive Detective Inspectors. You will undertake the role of Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS) Controller within CTP SE as laid out under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and associated secondary legislation. To manage and supervise the Prison CTP SE DSU. Support the CTP SE Authorising Officer in promoting intelligence led policing in line with the National Intelligence Model within the region through the use of Covert Human Intelligence Sources.  

The successful applicant will undertake the day to day management and associated responsibilities of the DSU. This will include liaison with local, regional and national units and partner agencies and as such extensive travelling across the SE region will be required. You will manage the CHIS recruitment strategy in-line with National Security in terms of CT and SOC priorities within CTP SE, regionally and nationally.

The successful applicant will be a proven competent Detective Inspector with a proven record of investigative ability and also be flexible with working hours to ensure resilience within the management team and meet the requirements of the role.

You must have a high level of personal integrity and will be required to successfully achieve and maintain security vetting to Developed Vetting (DV).

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
