An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the Digital and Technical Exploitation Capability (DTEC), part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.

SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

In this role you will identify, collate, research, assess and review information obtained from the internet and other sources and create technical reports for the purpose of supporting the DTEC Unit, SEROCU and the constituent Police Forces. This role would also include coordinating and advising the Digital Media Investigators (DMI) for the region.

The successful applicant will have a good understanding and knowledge of the cyber landscape and digital development. The successful applicant will have experience researching and capturing information from a wide spectrum of social media, forums, technical sites and researching the wider digital environment. The ideal candidate will be able to innovate, have an inquisitive nature and have a drive to learn.

You will also have recent and relevant experience within a research environment and proven experience in collating and assessing information and making concise and accurate recommendations based on assessments.

You may be required to travel for business purposes on occasion and demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours, and you must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.
