For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or acquire appropriate security clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the South East Technical Surveillance Unit (SETSU), part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.

SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

You will provide specialised IT Support in respect of covert surveillance (applying Force and national standards) in support of investigations/operations into serious organised crime, counter terrorism and SETSU Technicians.

The successful applicant will have proven ability to work in a secure and confidential environment with the highest standards of integrity; able to recognise sensitive information and maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.

You will have a degree or be HNC qualified in a computing or telecommunications subject (or equivalent). You will be able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies with proven use of computer technology. You will also have a good understanding of IT operating infrastructure (including IP networks) and ICT operations management.

You may be required to travel for business purposes on occasion and demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.
