For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or acquire appropriate security clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the South East Technical Surveillance Unit, part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.

SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

You will log, process, resolve or co-ordinate appropriate and timely responses to incident reports, including channelling requests for help to appropriate functions for resolution, monitoring resolution activity, and keeping users appraised of progress.

You will provide efficient and effective call taking and logging for Police Officers and staff within the Collaborating Forces in the South East Region with regard to SETSU IT issues to agreed service levels. You will respond to requests for support by providing information to enable incident resolution and promptly allocates unresolved calls as appropriate to ensure efficient resolution of incidents to agreed service levels.

To be successful in this role you will need:

Good communication skills (written and oral) with a proven customer focussed approach. Must be a team-worker who is flexible and adaptable but can also work with little direct supervision in a pressurised environment.

Good problem solving and trouble-shooting skills with the ability to think logically in a fast paced environment whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy.

Good understanding of the principles of an IT network infrastructure, Mobile Data on 3G & 4G platforms.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.
