Thames Valley Police
Mountain Healthcare is looking for qualified Nurses (RGN with current NMC registration) and Paramedics (with current HCPC registration) with 3 years post qualification experience to work in one of a number of custody suites across the Thames Valley Police area.
Salary: £43,797.60 per annum (pro rata for part time applicants) plus other benefits/bonuses.
Working in Police custody
Custody is both a dynamic and lively environment, with no two days the same. Thames Valley Police can detain individuals for up to 24 hours and within this time, you will provide a high level of care to detainees and their needs, which can vary from drug/alcohol dependency to acute medical episodes. Our dedicated healthcare professionals are also fully trained to collect forensic samples which can assist the police with their investigations.
Each day is different, and your skill set will be crucial at helping you navigate the considerations needed for both healthcare needs and as part of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act. You will work closely alongside the police as an autonomous practitioner delivering healthcare within a busy police custody suite.
Full time and part time positions are available, dependent on location (please see links below).
Essential & Desirable Experience
Experience within forensics is NOT NECESSARY. As a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will work closely with the police and receive training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner. However previous experience in any of the following would be ideal to assist you in the role; A&E, Walk in Centre, Paramedic Practitioner, Substance Misuse, Community Nursing, Police Custody, Prison, or other relevant discipline.

Vetting. All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
