An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety and Environment Specialist. The successful candidate will support relevant business and operational leads to ensure that TVP’s portfolio and activities comply with relevant Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) legislation and appropriate national guidance, working with colleagues to ensure that a safe and healthy environment is provided for all Thames Valley Police staff, members of the public and contractors who visit police premises or attend a police event or situation.

You will work with HSE colleagues and line management to ensure a rolling programme of risk assessments are undertaken and ensure relevant business and operational leads implement any actions. The post-holder will likely undertake risk assessments themselves on behalf of business and operational leads, and through appointed and trained volunteers across the business and 3rd party contractors. Prepare and implement HSE advice and support for Force, regional and national operations and training exercises including the development of new risk assessments in order to minimise potential for injury and sickness absence.

You will be responsible for developing and maintain the corporate and organisational strategies, policy and procedures in consultation with key internal and external stakeholders for designated areas of HSE responsibility. You will also Develop and maintain awareness of changes in health and safety legislation, best practice and National strategic developments, in particular in direct areas of responsibility, in order to deliver up-to-date advice and services and maintain policy, guidance and procedures.
