Policing is a physically demanding profession where Officers and Staff routinely have to respond to and deal with situations requiring an Emergency First Aid response, where their actions can have an impact on public safety, trust and confidence in the police.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified First Aid Trainer to join the existing First Aid Training Team to deliver Basic EFAW, FAW and Advanced level pre-hospital trauma skills, to enable Officers and Staff to undertake their roles with confidence. This will include some specialist policing roles identified by the Force Clinical Governance Board such as Public Order Medics and will include scenario training using live casualties and enhanced casualty simulation techniques.

The successful candidate will have:

1. A First Aid qualification at First Person on Scene (Intermediate), FREC (First Response Emergency Care) Level 3, or Higher.
2. Trainer and Assessor qualifications at QCF Level 3 in L&D or equivalents
3. Practical experience in Emergency Life Support/First Aid provision (for example, working within health care related employment, pre-hospital trauma care, emergency or military services).

You will be self-confident and have a proven ability to facilitate learning and respond to individual and group learning needs. You will have a clear passion for First Aid Training, be self-motivated to achieve excellence and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

You will also have the opportunity to support the design and development of training materials and the curriculum through work done with colleagues and subject matter experts. Excellent communication skills, IT literacy with proficient use of Microsoft Office packages is essential.

The post holder will be mainly based at Sulhamstead, but will also be required to travel to different locations across the Force area to deliver training. There may be an occasional requirement to work some evenings/weekends. 

This role is being offered as a full-time Fixed Term Contract/ Secondment until the end of March 2023.
