Police/Detective Constable – Prevent Officers - multiple roles (CTPSE)

Prevent, Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE)
Hampshire / TVP / Kent / Surrey / Sussex
Police Constable
N/A
Full Time
Permanent

Counter Terrorism Unit South East (CTP SE) under the Prevent Strand of the United Kingdom’s Counter-Terrorism strategy (CONTEST) by connecting CT policing, neighbourhood policing and communities.

The government-led, multi-agency Prevent programme aims to stop individuals being exploited by extremists and so we work with local authority partners and community organisations to help find solutions and work to support and protect people vulnerable to radicalisation.

The core responsibilities of a CTCO fall with three main categories: Case Management (including management of risk, supportive activities & disruptive activities), Engagement, and Police Support.

Prevent CTCO’s play a key role in assessing if cases are suitable for Local Authority led management and refer cases to a Channel Coordinator.  Coordinating between different organisations is an important part of this work, so a strong safeguarding background would be advantageous.

Monitoring an individual’s progress is vital for Prevent Case Management.  You will have an ability to gather information / intelligence to inform decision making and you will take ownership of tasking and prioritise any immediate actions based on the threat and risk presented in order to identify further safeguarding or where necessary, evidential opportunities and mitigate any identified threat.

You will explore opportunities to be considered for investigation or prosecution of individuals of interest for non-TACT offences to undermine their status/credibility, limiting their activity and provide disruptive capacity to CT Policing-led operations by completing tasks as directed as an overt response option.  As a subject matter expert you will get the opportunity to support front line staff, acting as community contact for any counter terrorism consequence management as well as coordinating the delivery of Prevent / training across the wider policing family.

Prevent is the first strand of the Contest Strategy and affords opportunity to support activity across all four pillars of Contest by providing tactical advice to counter terrorisms SIOs on Prevent options and capability.
