We welcome applications from Police Constables seeking an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join the South East Covert Operation Unit (SECOU).

The UCOL – Crime (Undercover On-Line – Crime) unit provides the South East region with the capacity to proactively and reactively target on-line criminality. As an undercover operative you be will tasked to deploy on a wide variety of digital platforms in order to engage with criminals to aid in the gathering of evidence in support of varying investigations being conducted within the South East Region and surrounding areas.

You will participate in undercover online policing operations within the South East Covert Operations Unit (SECOU) as part of the National Undercover Online Working Group structure.

You will be required to comply with undercover online Authorised Professional Practice (APP) and will be provided with nationally accredited training and support to meet the necessary legislative and practical requirements of the role. Security is of paramount importance to us due to the nature of the role. You need to be a British National and resided in the UK for the past five years for Security Clearance (SC) and ten years for Developed Vetting (DV)  You will be required to successfully pass and maintain the relevant security clearance in order to perform the role.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may occasionally be required to travel for business purposes throughout the UK. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand.

Officers will be shortlisted against the Essential Criteria and should submit an online application form. You will be also required to upload the Recommendation for Appointment Form (enclosed with the Job Advert) in the ‘Line Managers Approval Form’.

Previous covert experience and training is preferable but not essential.
