We welcome applications from Police Constables and Detective Constables for an exciting opportunity to join our South East Regional Prison Intelligence Team (SERPIT).

SERPIT is responsible for gathering and developing intelligence from HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and other associated establishments relating to national security issues and organised crime.

You will be expected to work within the regional establishments and, together with HMPPS, shall identify and exploit intelligence opportunities with a view of mitigating risk and disrupting offenders. In addition to working to identified national and regional priorities, you will be the gateway between law enforcement and the prison service and will provide support, advice and expertise in relation to all prison related matters.

In order to focus on the highest priorities within the region, you may need to travel to different establishments to deliver services effectively. You will be expected to carry a caseload of intelligence developments and will be accountable for the progress of these developments. Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to Developed Vetting (DV) level. Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.
