Police/Detective Constable Prevent Officer (multiple roles across Thames Valley Region) (CTPSE)

Prevent
Multiple roles across locations in Thames Valley (South Buckinghamshire and Berkshire)
Police Constable

Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CT Case Officer (CTCO) to work within the Counter Terrorism Unit South East (CTP SE) under the Prevent Strand of the United Kingdom’s Counter-Terrorism strategy (CONTEST) by connecting CT policing, neighbourhood policing and communities.

The government-led, multi-agency Prevent programme aims to stop individuals being exploited by extremists and so we work with local authority partners and community organisations to help find solutions and work to support and protect people vulnerable to radicalisation.

The core responsibilities of a CTCO fall with three main categories: Case Management (including management of risk, supportive activities & disruptive activities), Engagement, and Police Support.

Prevent CTCO’s play a key role in assessing if cases are suitable for Local Authority led management and refer cases to a Channel Coordinator.  Coordinating between different organisations is an important part of this work, so a strong safeguarding background would be advantageous.

You will explore opportunities to be considered for investigation or prosecution of individuals of interest for non-TACT offences to undermine their status/credibility, limiting their activity and provide disruptive capacity to CT Policing-led operations by completing tasks as directed as an overt response option.  As a subject matter expert you will get the opportunity to support front line staff, acting as community contact for any counter terrorism consequence management as well as coordinating the delivery of Prevent / training across the wider policing family.

This role is based in the Thames Valley Region (South Buckinghamshire and Berkshire) and allows a mixture of office based and agile working. Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.

Security is of paramount importance to us due to the nature of the role. You need to be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past five years.  Exemptions apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.  You will be required to successfully pass and maintain the relevant security clearance in order to perform the role.

You can find more information about security vetting here.
