This is a very exciting opportunity to be part of a new team taking the fight to those committing Economic Crime in the South East.

The new Proactive Economic Crime Team (PECT) will be working together with the regional Forces, other ROCUs and City of London Police focusing on proactive action against Fraud and Economic Crime. The new team will consist of 1 DS and 6 PC/DC’s.

Fraud and Economic Crime is recognised in the Governments strategy to tackle serious and organised crime and this is your opportunity to be part of a new regional team that will be established to cause maximum disruption to fraud criminal networks.  Focused on dynamic, high intensity operations, you will be tackling head on one of the highest crime threats to the UK that affects many millions of people each year including businesses, vulnerable and repeat victims.

The successful candidates will have a good level of investigative experience and disruptive tactics, along with experience of being OIC at court. Whilst previous experience of Economic Crime is an advantage, it is not essential. We are looking for  determined, thorough and organised investigators, who can make the most of intelligence opportunities to support a proactive style of policing.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player, who can work progress cases quickly and efficiently, and work with other teams and partners to deliver results.

The new team will form part of a wider ROCU network, will support national, regional and local proactive operations to tackle organised crime groups involved in economic crime.  Working closely with the City of London Police who are the national lead force for fraud, you will exploit and develop intelligence opportunities to identify and timely prosecute offenders actively involved in offending.

The role comes with the opportunity to further your professional development, with specialist fraud and economic crime training, along with other specialist training and policing skills.

The location of this role is Fareham, Pangbourne (relocating to Near M4, Junction 12) or Horsham (possibly relocating to Crawley).

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence and will be expected to travel throughout the South East Region and Nationally.  They will be required to drive force cars so there is a requirement to pass a Thames Valley Police Basic Driving Authority.

Security is of paramount importance to us due to the nature of the role. You need to have resided in the UK for the past five years.  Exemptions apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.  You will be required to successfully pass and maintain the relevant security clearance in order to perform the role.

You can find more information about security vetting here.
