We welcome applications from Detective Constables for an exciting opportunity to join our South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) Covert Development Unit (CDU).

You will undertake proactive and reactive intelligence investigations in relation to serious and organised criminal activity, specifically within hidden, high harm areas of crime. You will risk and assess intelligence and information ensuring any high risk issues are rapidly identified. You will develop and disseminate intelligence in accordance with sanctioned operations, ensuring strict adherence to handling conditions and safeguarding of tactics. You will generate and develop Intelligence using a range of different sources including overt, covert, physical and technical methods.

You will have proven experience in identifying and developing information and intelligence. You must have proven experience in covert intelligence gathering technique as well excellent communication skills.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to enhanced level. Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.
