The post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) before taking up the post.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for three suitably qualified individuals to join the ROCTA Unit, part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.

SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

You will use analytical techniques to create intelligence products to inform relevant strategic and tactical planning to the standard defined within the National Intelligence Model (NIM). You will be required to provide efficient and effective service to support managerial, operational and investigative decision making.

You will have substantial current role-related experience as an analyst in a policing environment/partnership agency with an excellent understanding of the NIM and experience of delivering analytical products using crime analysis tools, methodology and specialist software. You will have completed the National Intelligence Analysis Training or have another relevant professional qualification. You will have advanced IT skills and the willingness and ability to learn and use new systems as technology develops.

You will also be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills including experience of negotiating and persuading as well as the ability to deliver presentations. Please note that candidates will be asked to prepare and deliver a presentation as part of the assessment process.

Other responsibilities will include

Providing analytical support to the identification, assessment and review of OCGs, Individuals and Vulnerabilities through the analysis of sensitive data, Force data bases and partner agency data.

Developing intelligence collection plans to support the identification of new OCGs, Individuals and vulnerabilities.

Providing an analytical assessment of the threat from organised crime using all data sources including partner agency data to inform regional tasking and the accurate allocation of resources.

Accurately assessing and creating OCGs in line with national guidance.

Developing a horizon scanning process within the RIU.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an SC level.
