The purpose of this job is to work in partnership with the local authority and other agencies in the community to promote the 4 licensing objectives of the Licensing Act 2003. The post is part of the Shared Services provision for Licensing. 

You will liaise with police officers, the courts, outside agencies and the general public in the dealing of licensing applications. Good communication skills are essential and you should be organised and methodical in your work. You will have the ability to analyse and assimilate information and prepare it in differing formats to meet the needs of different audiences. It is essential to have word processing skills and the ability to learn various IT systems. You must hold a full driving license. 

You will be working in a law enforcement environment. You will need to gain an excellent working knowledge of the relevant legislation and where necessary provide guidance and support to operational officers. You will need to negotiate with and influence licensees and their representatives, ultimately holding them accountable by leading or co-ordinating any appropriate enforcement measures, some of which will take place in a quasi-judicial environment. 

The working environment is a pro-active one, working in the community with the license holders and other bodies and departments. This will include attending meetings at various locations in the area, visiting licensed premises and taking a lead in proactive licensing operations. You will be required to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the role.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
