For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or acquire appropriate security clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. As such, in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

Applications are invited from substantive constables. The FIMU offers a unique role at the heart of counter terrorism investigations for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to participate in a critical aspect of this area of policing. In addition to the routine receipt and assessment of intelligence, staff in the FIMU are required to undertake a number of other functions in relation to the management of intelligence for live operations across the South East.

Main duties include:-

Comply with all requirements of the National Standards of Intelligence Management (NSIM) by receiving, assessing and managing information and intelligence in support of daily business or specific operations.

Act as a conduit for the two-way flow of overt, sensitive and secret information and as an authority on level two issues, provide assistance where needed to constitute forces

Identify and provide relevant, timely information (e.g. intelligence and evidential reports) to contribute to the development of strategic and tactical intelligence assessments, target and problem profiles and other National Intelligence Model products.

The successful applicant will have proven experience within an intelligence environment including sanitisation, firewalling, parallel sourcing, and management of covertly obtained material

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. You must be prepared to undergo developed vetting.
