Force Crime Scene Investigator (FCSI)
In this interesting role you will provide support and guidance for less experienced staff, to lead investigations in crime scene preservation and management until the arrival of the appropriate personnel. You will be required to be dynamic, flexible, knowledgeable and available within the role and the organisation with flexibility to move through the Force area as and when requested. You will be required to make a comprehensive assessment and examination at all crime scenes, as well as property, digital evidence and to recover all scientific evidence, for example DNA, fingerprints, data and footwear marks, updating relevant forms/databases. The role includes attending scenes and completing tasks of an unpleasant nature, for example at serious and major crimes.
You will have recent and relevant experience from working within the forensic field and will have completed the CSI Stage 1 Course or recognised equivalent. You will also have knowledge of forensic examinations and potential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to handle stressful situations and prioritising tasks depending on importance are essential.
Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly. Due to unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be suitable. For this reason a full driving licence is considered essential for this role.
All applicants will be expected to undertake the established psychological screening process. Along with all other posts in Force Crime, Intelligence and Specialist Operations Departments, this role will require an enhanced level of vetting.
Candidates who pass shortlisting will be invited to an assessment day. Candidates successful at the assessment Day will be invited to interview where you will be expected to give a 10 minute presentation on a given topic.

Vetting. All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice.
