Mountain Healthcare - Nurse/Paramedic (Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional)

Mountain Healthcare is looking for qualified Nurses/Paramedics with 3 years post qualification experience to work in custody suites across the Thames Valley Police area.

Salary: £37,000 to £42,909 per annum (dependent on previous experience)

Working in Police custody

Custody is both a dynamic and lively environment, with no two days the same. Thames Valley Police can detain individuals for up to 24 hours and within this time, you will provide a high level of care to detainees and their needs, which can vary from drug/alcohol dependency, to acute medical episodes.  Our dedicated healthcare professionals are also fully trained to collect forensic samples which can assist the police with their investigations.

Each day is different, and your skill set will; be crucial at helping you navigate the considerations needed for both healthcare needs and as part of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.  You will work closely alongside the police as an autonomous practitioner delivering healthcare within a busy police custody suite.

Shift pattern

The 4-on-4-off rota pattern will give you the ability to plan your personal life months in advance. The shift pattern comprises of 2-day shifts, 2-night shifts then 4 days off.

Essential & Desirable Experience

Previous experience in any of the following would be ideal to assist you in the role; A&E, Walk in Centre, Paramedic Practitioner, Substance Misuse, Community Nursing, Police Custody, Prison, or other relevant discipline.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary.
