Thames Valley Police is looking for creative, enthusiastic digital communicator to join their digital communications team.

We are responsible for one of the most diverse policing areas in the country, which includes policing national events such as Royal Ascot and Reading Festival, the iconic University City of Oxford and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

As digital communications officer your working day will be varied. It will include using our digital and social media channels to: deliver digital creative solutions for crime prevention campaigns, supporting front line staff during police operations and providing reassurance to the public after a serious incident. In addition you will engage with staff and officers across the force supporting them deliver internal and external digital communications.

If you are a creative individual with experience in producing engaging digital two way communications this is a unique and exciting role for you. You will have the opportunity to further develop the force’s digital channels and strategies, helping improve them through evaluation.

To join our team you will have:

  • A recognised digital/social media, communications, or journalism qualification or equivalent relevant experience. 

  • Professional experience of using social media to reach target audiences and have enthusiasm for identifying and exploring new communication channels.

  • Professional experience in writing content and updating websites.

  • Recent experience using monitoring and analysing digital and social media tools.

  • The ability to make, edit and post short video clips. 

  • A valid driving licence due to the requirement to work flexible hours and to visit various locations, where public transport may not always be available. 


We are looking for people who:

  • Have a proven ability to plan, prioritise, implement, monitor and evaluate digital campaigns.

  • Enjoy working as part of a team but have the motivation to work independently and the ability to think on your feet.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice.
