An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the South East Technical Surveillance Unit, part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.

SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

The purpose of the role is to manage the IT infrastructure and apply standards that falls under SE IT (SEROCU & CTU) Governance and project manage projects that fall within the scope of ICT and SETSU. Provide specialised IT Support and resources in respect of covert surveillance (applying Force and national standards) in support of investigations/operations into serious organised crime, counter terrorism and SETSU Network.

Main duties include the management of projects using industry methods (i.e. PRINCE2) on behalf of SEROCU/CTU management. Interworking with ICT Project Management as required. As per the SEROCU ICT Delivery Plan. You will manage the operational capability of networks that fall under SEROCU/CTU Governance ensuring their availability and capacity is within agreed SLAs. Provide additional resources for ICT and SECTU governed projects that are under resourced as per the SEROCU ICT Delivery Plan. The successful candidate will provide technical architecture/design for SEROCU/SETSU/CTU Networks that fall outside of ICT Governance. Including the interconnection of these networks with SE Region LEAs and national surveillance networks (i.e. CCSN).

The successful applicant will be qualified to at least Degree level in an IT Discipline, including knowledge of Computer Design, Computer Programming, Internet Protocol Networking and Telecommunications (or equivalent). [Must be willing to undergo training in bespoke courses, which will require the person to be away from home].

They will also have Proven management skills with extensive up to date experience, in a technical environment and with an ability to undertake a multifunctional leadership role; able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies including various modes of communication.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice.
