This is a newly created role in which you will lead the development of policy and practice in Operational Policing in order to deliver the legislative obligations and strategic aims of Thames Valley Police. You will oversee the day to day tasking and development of staff and process within the Policing Strategy unit to ensure the most efficient and effective delivery of the function.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or with equivalent specialist/practical experience and evidence of continuous professional development. A track record of effective decision making at senior management level is essential including the assessment and management of risk. You will have experience of managing and developing diverse teams covering different strands of work at varying degrees of sensitivity and complexity with the ability to plan and prioritise work appropriately including areas of high risk and sensitivity to task and direct a team accordingly. Experience of change/project management is required including planning and prioritisation and of leading implementation teams with a track record of effective delivery. You will have experience of working with partner organisations and high level negotiation and influencing skills at all levels of the organisation. It is essential that you have the ability to analyse information from a range of sources in order to identify evidence based solutions together with having a strategic awareness with the ability to think strategically and work across professional boundaries in a multi-disciplined and complex environment.
