Fixed term contract for 3 years.

Location: Kidlington or to  be negotiated although will be required to work at locations across Thames Valley Police, Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex.

In this role you will provide day to day support for the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP) ensuring effective delivery and improved performance within the programme team. ESMCP is an exciting new programme which is being delivered jointly across Thames Valley, Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex police forces, with the primary objective of replacing the Airwave network and Tetra radios. The secondary objective will be to replace mobile technology with ESN devices, and to fully exploit the digital network and device capabilities to transform operational policing. The programme will affect all operational staff and officers, and provides an opportunity to change the future of police communications.

Project Support Officer duties will include gathering, recording and analysing data for use in problem solving in relation to delivery of project objectives, assisting and supporting the day to day activity in projects, production of project management documents throughout the lifecycle of the projects, identifying and escalating risks, assisting with dependency management, and supporting the Programme Management Office and Programme Director.

The successful candidate should have a good standard of education including excellent numeric and literacy skills and relevant project/management experience or the ability to gain appropriate skills, and proven ability to make decisions and establish priorities under conflicting demands. Recent experience of communicating and influencing successfully at all levels with internal/external customers and suppliers is required along with being IT Literate, especially in MS office software including MS Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Access. The ability to understand, analyse and generate statistical and financial information in relation to projects and programmes is required. Candidates on occasion will be required to travel across the four Force areas.
