This is an exciting apprenticeship opportunity to join Thames Valley Police as an Apprentice Forensic Administrator. You will be working as part of the Forensic Investigation Unit to provide an administrative service which supports the organisational requirements to bring offenders to justice.

To develop you as an efficient and effective Administrator you will undertake the Business Administrator apprenticeship. You will receive structured off the job development, supported by workplace learning and mentoring. As you develop your skills, your role will be to provide administrative support within the Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU) ensuring the integrity and continuity of forensic / biometric evidence and presenting a professional interface between FIU and its customers. 

The duties will include the handling, quality assurance, documenting and recording onto computerised systems of forensic exhibits, including biometric samples and updating the results achieved. Dealing with incoming and outgoing post/dispatches and where necessary the movement of exhibits for onward transmission and carrying out general clerical duties such as call handling, filing, faxing, minute taking, typing, ordering, invoicing and photocopying.

The successful applicant must be aged 18 or over and will possess a good standard of education, alongside the desire to have a career in Business Administration. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required along with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines. They will need to demonstrate a willingness to work as part of a team.

The successful candidate may be expected to undertake the established psychological screening process. Along with all other posts in Force Crime, Intelligence and Specialist Operations Departments, this role will require an enhanced level of vetting.

The hours of work are 8am to 4pm, Monday to Thursday, 0800 – 1530 Friday. 

This is a permanent position with Thames Valley Police. The apprenticeship is aimed at those who are not experienced in the provision of Business Administration and/or have not achieved qualifications in this field.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
