Police - Transferee PC ARV Officers

Joint Operations Unit (JOU)
Bicester, Milton Keynes, Three Mile Cross
Full Time
Permanent

The Joint Operations Unit covers the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Oxfordshire; forming one of the largest police Tactical Firearms Units in the country. Operating bases within Thames Valley Police are situated strategically at Reading, Milton Keynes and Bicester.

The work of the Armed Response Vehicle Department is challenging, working to protect our communities from the most serious harm. The unit has an advanced platform to operate within, from bespoke training centres, lateral development opportunities and excellent facilities / equipment; as well as significantly investing in our staff to maximise potential. Having inter-operability across the two Force areas, heightens the variety and capability further; allowing demand to be catered for aptly.

Opportunities are now open for officers to directly transfer into ARV.

You will need to be currently:

• accredited to national standards for the relevant ARV role, with proven level of competence in training and operational deployment

• Attain the minimum national fitness levels – ARV

• Medically fit for role profile

• Serving in a recognised Home Office Force

• Further evidence to demonstrate performance, attendance; ethical standards and professionalism will be required

• Show commitment and enthusiasm to serve the communities within our JOU area

• Successfully completed probationary period

There may be future opportunities to up-skill to CTSFO but this is not guaranteed and will be subject to a competitive selection process.

Amongst other eligibility criteria, Officers must live within twenty crow miles of two of our main police stations. Applicants are expected to show a degree of flexibility in terms of postings.

In addition Officers are expected to be flexible in terms of accepting occasional short notice duty changes, plus any on-call requirements; although these are well managed to minimise impact on our officers work life balance.

All Officers must attend a two week induction course at our Police Training Centre in Sulhamstead near Reading. Accommodation is available.

Please note that any pre booked annual leave cannot be honoured under any circumstances. You may request leave once you have completed the two week induction course.
