An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the Regional Intelligence Bureau (RIB), part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.

SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

Applications are invited from substantive constables or detective constables for the post of Covert Intelligence Officer. You will undertake proactive and reactive intelligence investigations in relation to serious and organised criminal activity.

You will support operational Senior Investigating Officers (SIO’s) in relation to relevant intelligence work associated with the Regional Intelligence Unit and/or Confidential Unit, ensuring strict adherence to handling conditions and safeguarding of tactics.

The successful applicant will have proven experience in covert policing techniques and Regulation of Investigatory powers Act 2000 Part 2. You will also have proven ability to demonstrate high standards of integrity, confidentiality and flexibility. Posting to roles within the RIB will be based on assessed candidates skills, experience and attributes

This is a Regional role and applicants must hold a full UK driving license to enable travel around the South East region. You must be able to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours, and be prepared to be secured cleared to Developed Vetting (DV).

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
