An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the Regional Intelligence Bureau, part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.

SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

Applications are invited from substantive Detective Inspectors for the post of Detective Inspector - Strategic Intelligence. The purpose of the role is to ensure there is an effective and co-ordinated understanding and response to Serious and Organised Crime threats in the South East. The post holder will work in partnership with constituent Forces and national agencies in order to achieve this.


The successful applicant will have completion of the detective accreditation process and investigative experience. You will also have experience in intelligence management and a thorough understanding of the National Intelligence Model (NIM). You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a proven ability to communicate information effectively at strategic and tactical levels at all levels of the organisation & to partners.

Although the role is principally 0800 — 1600 hours it requires flexibility with working hours, and may include servicing an on-call rota. This is a regional post and will require flexibility as well as frequent travel. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
