The Information Research Bureau (IRB) provides a 24hr research facility to support operational policing and is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate, timely and comprehensive criminal records on the Police National Computer (PNC). The unit processes fast and slow time requests from operational police officers seeking information from a wide range of applications and is skilled at the in depth researching of a wide range of applications including the Police National Database, Niche, NFLMS and DVS and then disseminating the relevant information. The IRB is a busy environment and the work is both challenging and rewarding for its staff. 

We are looking for a Team Leader to supervise, coordinate and administer the activities of the IRB to ensure that the IRB provides an excellent service to its customers at all times. You will have proven experience of training and developing staff through coaching along with recent and relevant experience of working unsupervised and using your own initiative in a pressurised environment. The successful applicant will work a three shift pattern covering the 24hr period, 365 days. It is based on a repeated pattern of 2 early shifts, followed by 2 late shifts then 2 nights and 4 days off.  

Along with all other posts in Force Crime, Intelligence and Specialist Operations Departments, this role will require an enhanced level of vetting.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
