An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the Covert Operations Unit, part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.

SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.

You will provide subject matter expertise in support of all SECOU functions including undercover operations, all aspects of undercover policing, leading training of SECOU advanced, on line and foundation undercover operatives and representing the unit nationally with various agencies from ACPO and other law enforcement to the College of Policing. 

Communication and training skills are key to this role; you will be responsible for making recommendations, delivering training at an advanced level and networking with other organisations. You will also provide innovative solutions to emerging challenges.

You will have successfully attended the nationally recognised training course for Foundation, UCOL and/or Advanced undercover officers as a student or successfully completed a Cover Officers Course.

Experience as a qualified Detective with recent experience in the investigation of serious crime in general and the use of undercover policing investigative techniques in particular is essential. You will have proven ability to work on initiative and be able to work flexibly

You may be required to travel for business purposes on occasion and demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours, and you must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.
