An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the Cyber Crime department, part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.


SEROCU leads the response across the region to the risk posed by serious and organised crime in Hampshire, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley. It is committed to relentlessly disrupting these risks by using its 13 capabilities and by partnership working with the National Crime Agency, Forces and other partners.


SEROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the South East region to deliver the government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy and to protect communities from harm.


Applications are invited from substantive sergeants for the post of Cyber Crime Protect Officer, the purpose of the role is to support the national cyber protect strategy, delivering a comprehensive regional strategy and supporting the regional forces in their delivery of cyber protect messages in line with the SOC strategy. 


Main duties include:-  


To attend and present cyber awareness training to small/medium enterprises and Police Forces both nationally and within the South East Region untilising national cyber protect programmes. 


To attend/present and promote where requested to academia and other interested parties the work of the South East Regional Cyber Crime Unit and working with such parties in the cyber protect field.


To engage with Cyber Security companies and Network Defenders in the South East Region to promote the work of the South East Regional Cyber Crime unit. To seek co-operation for joint working initiatives.


To provide resilience to the DS Regional Cyber Crime – Pursue. To support proactive and reactive investigations, within the remit of the unit.


The successful applicant will:


Have completed a CID foundation course or successfully completed the ICIDP


Have excellent communication and presentation skills, both orally and written


A good understanding and knowledge of cybercrime/digital investigations


A strong interest in computing/ICT


You may be required to travel for business purposes on occasion and demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours, and you must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary.
