In this newly created role you will assist in the thorough investigation of public safety incidents along with managing, directing supervising and coordinating the Firearms Licensing appeal process. You will also prepare public safety files and case papers ensuring file completeness in accordance with court deadlines and legislation along with attending Court to present evidence.

It is essential that you have proven customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively with people at all levels, sometimes in potentially confrontational situations along with proven experience of working within an investigatory type role with a working knowledge and experience of Firearms Law.

You must have the capability to travel to different locations and courts across the Thames Valley Police area. Due to the requirement to work flexibly, unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working; public transport may not be available or suitable at these times. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary.
