This is an exciting apprenticeship opportunity to join Thames Valley Police as a Payroll Technician. You will be working as part of the Finance Department to process payroll records.

To develop you as an efficient and effective Payroll Technician, you will undertake the Payroll Administrator level 3 apprenticeship. You will receive structured off the job development, supported by workplace learning and mentoring.

As you develop your skills, your role will be to create and maintain the payroll records, consolidate and process data, ensure Police Officers and Police Staff are paid accurately and on time, provide correct and consistent advice/guidance and contribute to the proper functioning of the Payroll Department. You will ensure that all statutory obligations and instructions and all other policies, procedures and rules are complied with. 

The successful applicant will be aged 18 or over and have a good standard of education with a minimum of 4 GCSEs grades A-C/9-4 or equivalent including Maths. You will have the ability to organise and prioritise workloads and work to deadlines. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a wide variety of people is considered essential. You will have the ability to operate a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Word and Excel. 

The apprenticeship is aimed at those who are not experienced in the provision of Payroll and Finance and/or have not achieved qualifications in this field.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice.
