Full Time
Permanent/Fixed Term Contract

Two posts: one Fixed Term Contract for six months and one Permanent Contract.

Would you like to help protect domestic abuse victims from further harm and highlight patterns of offending behaviour that result in criminals being taken off the streets? Would you like to finish work every day knowing you had helped to make the Thames Valley region a safer place?

You can do this if you join our small team with responsibility for providing critical management information to police leaders that will directly influence both their strategic and tactical decision making.

It is an exciting time to join the team as we transition our reporting away from an Excel/VBA based approach to utilising Microsoft Power BI and you could be instrumental in that journey.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience of development in Power BI;
  • An ability to quickly learn bespoke software and systems;
  • Good communication skills;
  • An ability to plan and prioritise your workload and
  • A flair for problem solving.

Knowledge of a range of areas of policing and experience developing in Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate is desirable but not essential.

The Service Improvement Technical Developer role also offers a linked-grade opportunity meaning that as you develop in the post there would be the option for you to apply to become a 4I grade without changing role. Accessing the 4I grade will require production of a portfolio and evidence of certain key skills, which will reflect significant development in the developer role.

As part of the Thames Valley Police family you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 22-30 days annual leave per annum pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme.
