Job Title:  Firearms Training PS

Location:  Sulhamstead 

Salary:  Sergeant

Essential :  

  • Competent Sergeant
  • Current AFO or have been occupationally / operationally competent within the last two years.
  • To have significant experience in the police use of firearms and operations
  • To have and maintain a good standard of physical fitness (subject to annual tests)
  • Have completed or willing to successfully complete a National Firearms Instructor Course (NFI)

 

Desirable :  

  • To be an accredited Operational Firearms Commander. 
  • Have completed or willing to successfully complete a National Firearms Tactical Advisors Course  

In this crucial role you would deputise for the Chief Firearms Instructor and would line manage a team of Firearms instructors. You'll assist with developing, maintaining and implementing the Tactical Firearms Training programme in line with the National Police Firearms Training Curriculum (NPFTC) and would be an integral part of the Tactical Firearms Unit call-out response, as required, on behalf of the JOU.

This role has been assessed as suitable for officers categorised as A-B. This is however for guidance only and if Officers on different grades feel the role may be suitable with reasonable adjustments, they are welcome to apply.  If you are currently in a Force critical post, there is an expectation that you will remain in that post for a minimum of two years before applying to change roles (or 18 months for custody sergeants).

Interviews will be conducted in line with the Career Pathways and Posting – Police Officers policy.

Candidates may be required to pass vetting and OHU or attend assessments and courses for this role. If any of these are failed the candidate will be posted back to a response role on an LPA. Postings are determined in accordance with organisational need although consideration will be given to personal circumstances.
