CT Border Policing (BP) is at the front line of protecting national security from the threats posed by Terrorism and Hostile Acts by Foreign States at the borders and ports of Surrey and Sussex.

Our Team are tasked to manage the known and unknown threats posed by individuals and groups seeking to travel across borders in furtherance of terrorism.

The role is intrinsic to the UK Counter Terrorism Strategy and supporting the British Intelligence Services including MI5 and MI6 in mitigating the threat to UK interests at home and abroad.

We welcome applications from substantive Inspector/Detective Inspectors and Sergeants/Detective Sergeants suitably qualified to apply for promotion.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient Counter Terrorism Border policing capability; delivering the CT Border Policing priorities and strategy in line with national CT priorities.

The role will involve ensuring frontline officers are deployable across Border policing in their force area according to threat, risk, and harm.

The post holder will work in partnership with various stakeholders across the region. Therefore, the suitable candidate will have excellent communication/interpersonal skills. We are seeking to appoint a candidate with effective leadership abilities and good decision-making skills.

At CTP SE, we are committed to better reflect the communities that we serve.  We encourage applications from our under represented communities including all ethnic or religious backgrounds, LGBTQ+, women and those with disabilities.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to Developed Vetting (DV) level. Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.
