Preventing and thoroughly investigating crime, supporting victims and bringing offenders to justice. This commitment can’t be achieved by any one person alone; it relies upon a team of over 8,000 officers, police staff and volunteers, working in partnership with other agencies and the public. Exciting challenges lie ahead – new digital technologies and ways of working are transforming the way we protect our communities and bring people to justice. To ensure we deliver a high-quality service, we require the very best talent to be a part of TVP.

In this role you will assist police officers, by taking responsibility for the investigation of criminal offences and other incidents, and prepare case papers, ensuring file completeness and delivery in accordance with deadlines. Responding to priority crime requires flexibility and often working protracted hours often at short notice. Duties will include taking statements from witnesses and victims, interviewing suspects in custody, whilst managing case investigations and completing accurate prosecution files. You will be required to attend court to give evidence.

Proven experience of working within an investigatory type role, using working knowledge and experience of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice procedures is essential. Please note that due to the length of this contract, the PIP1 accreditation is considered essential as training cannot be provided. You will have good customer service skills, engaging with people at all levels, sometimes in confrontational situations. You must be able to maintain confidentiality whilst working under pressure, manage a demanding workload and act on your own initiative. You will also have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. You must have capability to travel to different locations and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential.

As part of the Thames Valley Police you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 24 days annual leave per annum pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme.
