Chief Officer pay scales, starting salary £150,843, plus South East Allowance, along with a car for duty travel (and private use subject to private mileage costs and tax liability being met by the post holder).

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced senior police officers for the post of Deputy Chief Constable.

Brief details of the role as follows:

Working directly to the Chief Constable, you will provide effective leadership of your portfolio responsibilities and contribute to the overall leadership of the Force.  You will develop and implement appropriate and effective strategies and policies and take command of policing and operational matters as and when required.

You will have the operational and leadership credibility to help ensure we get the best policing service we can for our communities.  You will have a strong commitment to and the highest respect for diversity amongst your colleagues and the communities you serve.  As the lead for effectiveness and efficiency you will need to promote collaboration opportunities, prioritise budget allocations across the Force and oversee significant change programmes.

Being the Deputy Chief Constable in Thames Valley Police is guaranteed to be challenging, but never dull.  We are a Force where energy, enthusiasm, commitment to openness and a willingness to drive improvement are essential.      

Applicants must have passed the Senior Police National Assessment Centre and successfully completed the Strategic Command Course.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
