Exciting opportunities have arisen to join the Vetting team, as a dedicated SE Vetting Advisor.

Within this role you will uphold the requirements of the Vetting Code of Practice and APP (Authorised Professional Practice) for the Police Community by administering/inputting Vetting data, investigating/researching cases and assessing results within the Central Vetting Unit. You will process national security questionnaires in accordance with the Vetting Code of Practice and APP, utilising a third party supplier in order to grant the appropriate level of National Security Clearance required for the role.

The successful candidates will research individual backgrounds using a range of systems including Police National Computer, local and national criminal intelligence systems, credit reference applications and voters registers and, where necessary, conduct interviews in order to ascertain candidates version of events so that a fair and consistent decision can be reached.

Applicants will need to meticulous attention to detail and be able to communicate to all levels of the business. Despatch documentation to individuals and managers, necessary to support any risks identified in the vetting process in order to ensure any risk is mitigated where standards conflict with the Code of Practice.  You will accurately maintain/administer a central staff vetting filing system and process all related correspondence, as well as dealing with various internal departments and external organisations to facilitate enquiries.

You must be willing and able to successfully complete a series of CT training courses in TVP courses  if not already trained.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may occasionally be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role.

Security is of paramount importance to us due to the nature of the role. You need to be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years.  Exemptions apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.  You will be required to successfully pass and maintain the relevant security clearance in order to perform the role.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary.
