We welcome applications from Police/Detective Constables for an exciting and rewarding job opportunity within our SEROCU Covert Operations Unit (COU). The post holder will support the unit in providing professional advice, operational support and guidance within the region’s constituent forces in respect of all relevant operations.

You will work in the capacity of a Cover Officer as part of a successful team to investigate a range of serious and organised crime within the South East Region and surrounding areas, participating in undercover policing operations within the COU both physically and online, as part of the National Undercover Working Group structure.

The post holder will need to comply with the undercover Authorised Professional Practice (APP) and shall be provided with nationally accredited training and support to meet the necessary legislative and practical requirements of the role. Please refer to the Job Description for further details of role, knowledge, skills and experience requirements.

Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks.  In order to achieve this, you have to have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.

You can find more information about security vetting here.
