The South East Regional Organised Crime (SEROCU) Regional Cyber Crime Unit plays a critical part in supporting the South East Force Cyber Crime Units in tackling the growing demand of Cyber-Crime.  This role coordinates the regional Hub and Spoke operating model on Cyber dependant crime investigation within the South East region.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering the following; 

  • Deliver an Integrated best practice governance framework, enhancing the Team Cyber UK operating model.
  • Fulfil the requirement of the Strategic Policing Requirement (SPR).
  • Deliver an NPCC consistent victim focused capability at the local level, whilst benefiting from being an integral part of a truly local to national cyber capability.
  • Deliver an effective and efficient model that both upskills and maintains the capability of existing forces.
  • Develop standard operating procedures that enable the regional and force cybercrime units to respond proportionately and effectively to both current and emerging threats.

We welcome applications from substantive Detective Sergeants and Detective Constables suitably qualified to apply for promotion.  We are looking for officers with excellent communication skills, proven investigative background and a good understanding of the cyber and digital environment.

Security is of paramount importance to us due to the nature of the role. You need to be a British National and resided in the UK for the past five years for Security Clearance (SC).  You will be required to successfully pass and maintain the relevant security clearance in order to perform the role.

If you wish to apply you need to have support from Head of Command / Department. Hampshire officers need to complete an AD277 alongside their application via Hampshire HR. Kent Officers will need to inform HR Resource Planning at the earliest opportunity of intention to apply.   

Substantive officers will be shortlisted against the Essential Criteria and should submit an online application form.  You will be required to upload your latest PDR (or if no PDR, a recent copy of your CPD record/Focus Feedback meeting) and a copy of your Training Record. You will be also required to upload the Recommendation for Appointment Form (enclosed with the Job Advert) in the ‘Line Managers Approval Form’. Thames Valley Police (TVP) officers who have already passed the TVP Promotion, can apply as a substantive (above application requirements). 

In addition to this information, officers applying on promotion should also submit a ‘Why Me, Why Now’ letter which outlines your motivation and suitability for the role at this time. Your evidence should also demonstrate the relevant behaviours, skills, knowledge and experience in relation to your capability at this rank in accordance with the core competencies (CVF) Step up Criteria. The letter must be no more than two (2) sides of A4. The margins must not be modified from 2.54cm. All evidence outside the margins should be removed. You will also be required to upload your latest PDR (or if no PDR, a recent CPD record//Focus Feedback meeting) and the Police Officer Promotion Reference Form (not Recommendation for Appointment Form).
