In this exciting new role you will ensure Thames Valley Police is seeking out opportunities and progressing the application of evidence based policing across the Force.  Your role will help embed Thames Valley Police as a leading force for evidence based policing. 

Internally, the job will be split evenly to work between championing evidence based policing, and implementing behavioural science.  You will support EBP research in TVP and promote EBP to instil the principles across our organisation. You will facilitate the Research and Practice Board, and design and host the EBP annual conference.

Working with the two behavioural scientist post holders you will help to run pilots and implement innovative solutions to improve service to the public by our officers and staff.  You will apply these techniques and ensure they are contributing to Evidence Based Policing (EBP) and improving performance and service to the public. Research, implement, evaluate projects and present the findings. For successful pilots, you will assist with the wider implementation.

Externally, you will work with academic partners, the College of Policing, the Society of Evidence Based Policing and others to identify opportunities for TVP to improve and innovate.

You will be educated to degree/Masters level (or equivalent) or with equivalent experience in specialist area of Evidence Based Policing or Criminology and have expertise of working with senior managers and stakeholders in an organisation to deliver strategic objectives, service improvements and organisational policy / guidance.

Excellent communication skills are required with the ability to adapt to all levels of the organisation. You will work with customers across the whole organisation.  You will be self- motivated and able to use your initiative and proactively develop your professional skills, ensuring knowledge, techniques and skills are kept up to date.  Excellent literacy, numeric and research skills are required for this role together with experience of using office software to a high standard.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
